Brexit champion Boris Johnson doesn’t need to visit Brussels for a reality check because everything he has been saying about the EU “is in line with reality,” he told Sky News Thursday.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker had on Thursday invited the former London mayor to visit the city to see “if everything he is telling the British people is in line with reality — I do not think so.”

After watching a video of Juncker’s comments, Johnson said Brussels was taking steps to move the U.K. “further into a federal European superstate.”

“The whole exercise in Brussels is now aimed at propping up the euro,” he said, warning that moves towards a fiscal and political union would continue.

“[The economic governance of the EU] is already profoundly undemocratic, but it will tend towards the creation of a united states of Europe into which I’m afraid Britain will inevitably be sucked by the usage of single market mechanisms,” Johnson said.
