The St. Cloud State University wrestling team saw seven of its student-athletes earn All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference recognition in 2014-15. The Huskies finished the 2014-15 with a 17-2 record and won their fourth consecutive NSIC championship at 8-0 this winter in conference action.
St. Cloud State University wrestlers named to the 2014-15 All-NSIC First Team include freshman Larry Bomstad at 149-pounds, junior Clint Poster at 157-pounds, and sophomore Austin Goergen at 285-pounds. Huskies named to the 2014-15 All-NSIC Second Team were sophomore Mike Rhone at 133-pounds, senior Josh Howk at 141-pounds, junior Gabe Fogarty at 165-pounds and sophomore Clayton Jennissen at 174-pounds.
The Huskies recently captured the runner-up position at the 2015 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional tournament in Mankato on Feb. 28-March 1. SCSU will now advance six of its wrestlers to the upcoming 2015 NCAA Division II championships that will be held in St. Louis, Mo. on March 13-14.
SCSU grapplers earning bids to the NCAA championships for the third consecutive season are two-time All-Americans Poster (157) and Fogarty (165). At 285-pounds, Goergen will be making his second NCAA trip after gaining All-America status in 2014. SCSU wrestlers making their first trip to nationals include Tim Prescott at 125, Rhone at 133 and Bomstad at 149.
