Did Shayna Baszler Retain the NXT Women’s Championship at ‘Takeover: WarGames 2’?

Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane went to war on November 17 at NXT Takeover: WarGames. The NXT Women’s Championship was on the line in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Both Baszler and Sane brought great intensity to the match, with Kairi taking the advantage early.

But the numbers game soon became a factor as Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir made their presence known at ringside. They attacked Kairi and threw her back into the ring, giving Shayna the opportunity to make Sane tap. Baszler got the first fall and the momentum, but Kairi was not done.

Sane recuperated and got back on her feet, giving Baszler all she could handle. Kairi won the second fall and was soon given an assist by both Io Shirai and Dakota Kai. The trio held their own against three of The Four Horsewomen but it was not enough.

Sane went for the diving elbow off the top rope but Baszler caught her, rolled her up and got the win. Shayna Baszler is still the NXT Women’s champion.

Baszler and Sane have great chemistry together and Kari proves her versatility every time they face off. Considering this is the second time that Shayna has had help, it’s entirely possible that a Six-Woman Tag Team Match could be booked at some point. It’s unknown whether or not Kairi Sane will get another shot at the NXT Women’s Championship.
