As seen on WWE Raw this week, GM Kurt Angle announced the planned multi-man main event at Extreme Rules has been scrapped due to Brock Lesnar’s “contract issues” as it pertains to his next Universal Title defense.
While we mentioned it earlier this week, it was reiterated by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that everything we are seeing with Lesnar on WWE TV is all storyline, and there are no actual contract issues between he and WWE. The idea with the story is to further make Lesnar a heel by having him threaten to leave WWE and return to UFC with the Universal Title still in his possession. Ultimately, Lesnar has one more match left on his current WWE deal and as of now he is likely to face Roman Reigns for the title at WWE SummerSlam.

With regards to a UFC return, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports this week is “make or break” week for Brock Lesnar if he indeed wants to face the winner of the upcoming Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier fight. If Lesnar wants to face the winner, then he has until the end of this week, or June 29th, to re-enter the USADA drug testing pool, or he will be ineligible to face that winner on December 29th.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Cormier revealed his current plan is to defeat Miocic in their fight on July 7th, defend the title against Lesnar in December, and then have a career-ending fight against Jon Jones.
