Unfortunate News on the Health of Former Tough Enough Winner Matt Cappotelli & His Battle with Brain Cancer

Matt Cappotelli, best known for co-winning the third season of WWE Tough Enough, may be in the final stage of his long battle with brain cancer.

Matt made it to the finals of Tough Enough in 2003 alongside John Hennigan, who eventually went on to become Johnny Nitro and John Morrison on WWE television. After making a few appearances on the main roster he was sent to OVW to refine his skills, and actually managed to become the OVW Heavyweight Champion. However, shortly after winning the title, he announced to the fans that he had been diagnosed with a form of brain cancer,  vacating the championship and undergoing a successful surgery in the summer of 2007.

Unfortunately, last summer Cappotelli was diagnosed with a Grade IV glioblastoma multiforme, a much more severe and advanced stage of brain cancer, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He has reportedly undergone his final stage of radiation treatment according to his wife, but at this point there’s really nothing that can be done. Matt is said to be having a lot of trouble chewing and swallowing, and can no longer communicate in full sentences, which means he isn’t eating very much and is likely losing a lot of weight as well.

We would like to send our love and support out to Matt, his wife Lindsay and all their family and friends during this tremendously difficult time.
