London-based wrestler Martin Stone, also known as Danny Burch, has signed a new contract with WWE, and will continue to compete for the NXT brand going forward.
Stone, 36, has worked off and on for WWE since 2013, gaining more exposure by competing in the 2017 WWE UK Championship Tournament. Along with Pete Dunne and a small handful of the UK stars, he is one of the few talents to maintain a full independent wrestling schedule while under contract to the company. It’s unknown how this new deal with effect any non-WWE bookings he has, or might take in the future, but it’s worth noting that he essentially said “goodbye” in his post-match promo at this weekend’s Beyond Wrestling event.
He has been working as a part of a tag team in NXT alongside Oney Lorcan since late 2017. Most recently the two competed in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, losing to Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong in the first round, and based on this past week’s episode of NXT television may be starting some kind of program with The Undisputed Era.
JUST IN: Congratulations to Martin Stone, who has just announced that he’s signed a full-time contract with the WWE! It’s been a pleasure, Guvnor!
