Brazilian PSG centre-back and skipper Marquinhos (28) was satisfied after Les Parisiens sealed a comeback home win against Toulouse on Saturday. The visitors opened the scoring thanks to a clever free-kick from Dutch playmaker Branco van den Boomen (27), before the hosts equalised with a bottom-corner curler from Moroccan international right-back Achraf Hakimi (24). In the second half, Argentine striker Lionel Messi (35) gave PSG the lead with a powerful finish at the edge of the box. The French leaders secured a second Ligue 1 win on the bounce for the first time this year. Since the World Cup ended, Paris lost at Lens and Rennes and conceded a last-minute equalizer at home against Reims.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video Sport, Marquinhos said he felt improvements in recent PSG outings. When asked if the tactical switch to a diamond midfield was key, Marquinhos replied that every game tells its own story. “From my part, I’ve always played in a back four, so I’m more used to it and comfortable with it. If we’re playing a 3-man defense, I’d do my best and help the team. You need to be clever to adapt to it, by closing the gaps and blocking the opponent as much as possible.“
According to Marquinhos, PSG’s recent momentum is down to a better understanding between players after a 6-week break. “Everything is starting to go back to normal after the World Cup. We needed time, everyone saw it in our first January games. Now, we’re starting to find our form back.” However, the Brazilian laments the growing injury list that forced Les Parisiens to change formation and tactics mid-game. On Saturday, Portuguese Renato Sanches limped off in the first half after sustaining what appears to be a muscle strain.
