L’Yonne Républicaine report that newly-promoted to Ligue 1 side Auxerre have begun discussions with 31-year-old Cameroonian international full-back Ambroise Oyongo, who has been a free agent since his contract with Montpellier expired in June.
Oyongo made just 11 appearances in Ligue 1 during the 2021/22 campaign, scoring 1 goal, as he failed to convince new manager Olivier Dall’Oglio that he had the necessary athleticism to take on the responsibility required in his back three shape in one of the wing-back positions.
Oyongo has had a storied career, with experiences at club level in his native Cameroon, in MLS and in Russia. He has no intention to retire yet and is seeking to find what would be the 6th club destination of his career.
