As reported by Le Parisien, PSG will have to exclude a senior player for the Champions League knock out stages as their squad remains too large.
Tonight, PSG will have to submit their 25 man group for their last 16 UCL tie with Real Madrid to be played later this month. The squad must include at least eight players trained at the club or in France and a maximum of 17 players considered “foreign”. However, PSG have 18 senior players who would be considered foreign.
Goalkeeper, Sergio Rico, who left for Mallorca in January, and left-back Juan Bernat, who was recovering from a serious knee injury, were left out of PSG’s group stage squad and Bernat could be the player to miss out again with Nuno Mendes likely to be first choice and other options at left-back behind him. However, a midfielder could also be in line to be excluded with Julian Draxler, Ander Herrera or Georginio Wijnaldum all possible omissions.
