Speaking last night in the mixed zone, AS Monaco central midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko reacted following his side’s 1-0 victory over Montpellier, adding that his team’s intention is to qualify for the Champions’ League via a top three finish in Ligue 1 this campaign.
“The aim is to qualify for the Champions’ League, we have never hidden from that. We have a bit of catching up to do, but the season is still long, with another 13 matches to come. There is a real opportunity for us to achieve our aims. We cannot stop here, we are Monaco. We have big aims. We have to take each match as it comes with the desire to win. I hope that we are all aware of the possibility we have to quickly climb the table. We have gotten close to the first positions, now we need to stay there and solidify next weekend.”
ASM are now three points away from 3rd, but all teams around them admittedly have a game in hand.
