In a further excerpt from Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette’s extraordinary interview with L’Équipe today, he explains why he feels unprotected by club manager Hubert Fournier.
“He could have explained what was going on. Of course, I had some bad games. You could say that I was bad and all. But I had pains in my back. I wanted to help and that went against me. I would have preferred him to defend me, to show that he was behind me rather than to bury me further and to give the supporters a reason to criticise me. The simple fact is that I played with these pains and that should have shown people that I did at least try.”
