L’Équipe report this afternoon that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti will be summoned by the LFP disciplinary commission following his comments regarding the referee after the loss to Nantes over the weekend.
The LFP – Ligue 1’s governing body – saw its disciplinary commission meet this Wednesday to decide on sanctions for players over the weekend. It has called up the Italian midfielder for next weekend’s session to explain himself, after his rant to Canal+ after the 3-1 defeat.
Verratti notably stated that “sometimes we get s**t on by the referees”, prompting the FFF’s ethics council to refer the comments to the LFP. The midfielder could be hit with a suspension of up to five games for rude behaviour, with a potentially longer ban also on the table.
