Speaking in an interview with Canal Football Club, Senegalese international and Rennes attacker Mbaye Niang discussed speculation linking him with a summer move to Marseille.
“It is flattering. There is no smoke without fire. There have been discussions, but today there is nothing concrete. Marseille have problems to sort out… Yes it is a club that interests me, a club which has a wonderful history. They have fervent supporters, which I like. If it is to happen, then it would be with great pleasure and whatever happens, Rennes will forever remain in my heart. It is the club that gave me a chance… If I have a sporting project like the one I had at Rennes, I could lower my salary because I am going to enjoy myself and win trophies.”
“In France, there are clubs that are sounding me out and are trying to get an idea of on what terms I would come. Abroad as well. In England, all the clubs are looking for strikers. I’ll sort through them. In the end, one will remain. Today, everyone is talking about Marseille because my wife is from Marseille, I like Marseille a lot, I am there often. But there are other clubs that could please me just as much.”
