Jacks No. 6 in recruiting rankings

The South Dakota State wrestling recruiting class for the 2013-14 season is ranked No. 6 by Amateur Wrestling News (AWN).

AWN rankings incorporate many factors, including: rankings, needs and other intangibles. One of the top criteria in developing a strong recruiting class is addressing a program’s needs.

Head coach Chris Bono and the Jackrabbit wrestling coaching staff added 13 incoming student-athletes to the roster, as well as one on-campus freshman.

The incoming class includes: Nate Rotert, Colin Holler, Paul Mascarenas, Matthew Seabold, Brandon Brunner, Chaas Delgado, Hank Goettl, Coltan Laganiere, Kyle Leet, Alex Macki, Austin Oyen, Jake Turk and Kyle White. Alex Kocer joined the team midway through the season.

The recruiting class was named No. 6 in the fall by AWN and The Open Mat, as well, but the new rankings are updated following the spring recruiting period. SDSU added five recruits in the spring.

In addition to the AWN ranking, the class was ranked No. 16 by Division 1 College Wrestling earlier this spring.

The complete release is available on AWN.TheOpenMat.com, along with all 25 ranked programs. Full breakdown of the top 10 is available for AWN Plus Members and Digital Subscribers.
