Scorpio Sky has spoken with Alex Marvez ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite, where he will challenge Chris Jericho for the AEW Championship.
To start with, Sky reflected back, 88-days-ago when Jericho told him backstage that he would never get a shot at the AEW World Championship.
“When Chris Jericho said those words, “Scorpio Sky you will never get a shot at this title” it caught me off guard. He’s a superstar, he’s one of, if not the greatest of all time and he spoke my name. In a negative way, but he spoke my name. I didn’t even know Chris Jericho knew who Scorpio Sky was.
“It didn’t discourage me, it motivated me. No, it lit a fire under me. It’s no coincidence that months later I am sitting here as one half of the Tag Team Champions, because of those words.”
The SCU member also reflected on his journey to this point. A 15-year career, addressing some of the lows that he has encountered.
“It has been a 15-year rollercoaster, extreme highs and extreme lows. It has been hell at times to be perfectly honest. People telling me you are too this or too that, you are just flat out not good enough. Worst of all, my mother and father dying the same year when I was at my lowest.”
Finally, Scorpio Sky reflected on tonight’s AEW Dynamite main event, claiming that it is his night.
“But I can write those wrongs tonight, I can use all of it as motivation and I can look at everyone who said no and say.. yes, Scorpio Sky is good enough. Wiht my mother and father watching, from the heavens above I can go in that ring and I can walk out a World Champion. Chris Jericho might be the G.OA.T, but tonight is my night.”
