All Hail King Corbin! – WWE’s Most Hated Man Wins King of the Ring Tournament

A five-week journey came to an end tonight on Monday Night Raw, as Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable in the finals of the 2019 King of the Ring tournament.

Gable was this tournament’s ultimate underdog from the very first round back in August. He managed to out-manuever his former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin on week one, before scoring a pretty big upset against Andrade – who many had marked as their favorite to win – in the second round.

One week later Gable scored a third round victory over Shane McMahon, a last-minute replacement for the legitimately injured Elias, but ultimately he couldn’t make his dream come true in the finals, falling to Corbin after an excellent, pay-per-view quality match.

King Corbin didn’t exactly have an easy route to the tournament finals. He moved past former WWE Champion The Miz in the first round, then crushed the dreams of another underdog, Cedric Alexander, in his second match. Both matches were heavily praised, followed by one of the best performances of his career in a triple threat against Ricochet and Samoa Joe at Madison Square Garden.

We suspect an official “coronation” for our new king will take place soon.
